Mission: Possible

The goal of Mission Possible is to help those in need of assistance with making construction repairs or replacement which will improve their lives.

Applications for assistance are reviewed by the committee and upon approval, a date is set for a work team to perform the needed tasks. All are invited to participate in Mission: Possible work days no matter their construction experience or skill!

Boys & Girls Supper Club On the 1st Monday of each month of the school year, Myers Memorial provides a meal for the children and youth of the West Gastonia Boys & Girls Club (located on Boyer Street).  A group of church volunteers meets  at 2pm on the First Monday of each month to prepare 200+ sandwiches each month and then serves dinner at the club. You are invited to assist in preparing the meal or providing financial assistance for this ministry.

Regional Mission Trips

Through out the year, members respond and serve on regional work teams. Most recently, a team went in May to Eastern North Carolina and served with the North Carolina Disaster Response Teams in the ongoing efforts to rebuild following Hurricane Matthew flooding.

The Western NC Conference provides many ways we can serve through the connectional system of the United Methodist Church.

THaKO

Tomorrow for Haitian Kids’ Orphanage In addition to providing the basic necessities to many children in need in the area, THaKO also provides basic medical care to local villagers.
School Connections
During the academic school year, Myers members are active in the public schools. From mentoring middle school and high school students at Warlick Academy to providing proctors and seasonal teacher appreciation treats at Sherwood Elementary and Grier Middle School, there are ways for you to serve.
Myers Memorial provides space to the Gaston County Adult & Aging Services program Meals on Wheels.  Volunteers come to our building each weekday to pick up and deliver meals to 40 elderly, housebound seniors daily in East Gastonia. The program anticipates adding two new additional routes in the South Gastonia area which will provide services to approximately 20 new people.

Volunteers are always needed to deliver noon time meals in Belmont, Bessemer City, Cherryville, Cramerton, Dallas, Gastonia, Lowell, McAdenville, Mt. Holly and Stanley. If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity and have an hour available, please call 704-862-7540.
