Scouting Ministries

Myers is home to Boy Scout Troop #21 and numerous Girl Scout Troops.

Boy Scouts

Troop 21 is an active Troop, with monthly outdoor activities planned throughout the calendar year. This aggressive program has many advantages. It allows boys who are involved in extra-curricular programs to have several opportunities to go on a campout. It also accommodates family’s busy schedules. It has always been our philosophy that every boy should have the opportunity to experience sleeping under the stars. We stagger our outdoor program with backpack trips, canoe trip, bike trips, and day hikes. This allows scouts of all physical abilities to participate in the activity that best suits their liking.

Troop 21 is chartered by Myers Memorial United Methodist Church, with additional support from the United Methodist Men at Myers. Since scouting is a non-profit program, we are supported by collaborative partners who provide a place to meet and mentoring through leadership. MMUMC is a great collaborative partner. The church has a long history of supporting scouting.

Come join us for an overnight campout in the North Carolina Mountains. Or paddle down the New River in early October and enjoy the wildlife and the changing leaves.

Or . . . maybe you’re one to enjoy a bike ride down the Creeper Trail, or a more rigorous run at Lake Norman State Park. Whatever your outdoor enjoyment is . . . I’m sure we’ve either been there . . . done that . . . or going there soon!

Girl Scouts

In Girl Scouts, girls discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls together. Through a myriad of enriching experiences, such as extraordinary field trips, sports skill-building clinics, community service projects, cultural exchanges, and environmental stewardship, girls grow courageous and strong. Girl Scouting helps girls develop their full individual potential; relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect; develop values to guide their actions and provide the foundation for sound decision-making; and contribute to the improvement of society through their abilities, leadership skills, and cooperation with others.
